The little town of Gubbio was tormented by a very cruel wolf.
He took the sheep out of the stables,
Stole the dogs from their yards and even attacked horses and people.
I would like to speak to this wolf, Fanciskus said.
He moved into the forest and made a sign of the cross on the raging animal.
It suddenly appeared to be frozen.
The animal bowed his head and laid his right leg in the hand of Franciskus.
He talked to the wolf who laid down.
Like a faithful friend he followed his new master to the market of the town.
Franciskus told the people to see a brother in everybody,
Even if it’s a wolf, because we are of the same Father.
And to the wolf he said the people from now on would feed him if he,
In future, would leave everything and every living creature in peace.
The wolf nodded, and everyone reconciled to each other.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred... let me sow love
Where there is injury ... pardon
Where there is doubt... faith
Where there is despair...hope
Where there is darkness, light
Where there is sadness...joy
O Divine Master, grant that I may
not so much seek
To be consoled............ as to console
To be understood ....... as to understand
To be loved .................. as to love
For
It is in giving........that we receive
It is in pardoning, that we are pardoned
That we are born to eternal life.
